Description

You are warmly invited to the launch of Wyl Menmuir’s In Dark Places, taking place on 1st November in Lecture Theatre B, Du Maurier.

This specially commissioned story captures the voices of the caves in an intricate weaving of past and future that speaks for the lost souls of Cheddar Gorge.

This project was completed in collaboration with The National Trust Publishing Project and Falmouth University.

Wyl is based in Cornwall and was longlisted for the Man Booker Prize in 2016 for his debut novel The Many. Wyl also worked with staff and students in English and Writing as our 2017 Writer in Residence.

Praise for The Many:

"a supernatural, gothic mash-up” – The Times

“Menmuir’s homespun horror has flashes of Daphne du Maurier’s ghost-gothic and John Wyndham’s dystopia while displaying its own individuality and flair.” – The Guardian

Drinks and nibbles will be served in the School of Writing & Journalism foyer, following Wyl's talk.
